What is the Automation Expo?
The Automation Expo is the regions’ number 1 international automation trade show since 2006. It has been main automation tradeshow catering to the IMT-GT (Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle) since 2006.

Who attends Automation Expo?
The Automation Expo attracts major players from the region. Our inaugural show attracted more than 9563 trade buyers with number surpassing. The event also attracts serious buyers (45% of visitors are decision makers within their organization). The Automation Expo also attracts visitors from neighboring countries.

Where is the Automation Expo organized?
The Automation Expo is held at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) in Relau, Penang, Malaysia. PISA is the main tradeshow venue in Penang and is located 5 minutes from the Penang International Airport, 10 minutes from the Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone and less than 30 minutes from the Prai Industrial Estate. The city of Georgetown is also easily accessible from PISA. Penang is one of the leading industrial states in Malaysia, mainly focusing on Semiconductor, Micro-electronics, Sub-contracting, Ship-building, Metalworking, Plastics, Food and Furniture. It is also the home to more than 60 international-standard machine builders.

When is the Automation Expo held?
The Automation Expo will be held in mid-year and will take place from March 19-21, 2009.

Why is there the Automation Expo?
Penang is one of the main hubs for machine builders since the late 1970s when the MNC started moving their production facilities into this island. Thus seeing a need to be filled, we have approach the Penang State Government and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers – Automation Technology Industry Group (FMM-ATIG) to jointly organize this very important event. We believe it will eventually be the main show for technology updates, equipment purchases and also to networking among peers.

Visiting the Event

What is the registration fee?
The Automation Expo is opened FREE for individuals from the relevant trade. Entrance to the show is through invitation or business card registration.

How do I register for this event?
Visitors can do on-site registration or they can choose the convenience of on-line registration. The on-line registration will open in January 2009.

What is the trade show attire?
Visitors are required to be properly dressed for this event. Office attire and business casuals are advised. Visitors with singlet, shorts or slippers are NOT allowed entry to this show.

Can I bring my children for the event?
Due to the nature of this event, children under 18 are NOT permitted entry to avoid any injuries or accidents.

What are the opening hours for the Automation Expo?
The event will open daily from 10 am to 6 pm daily.

How do I get updates on the Automation Expo?
All registered email users from our main website – www.intrenasionale.com will receive frequent updates on the event, such as the latest list of exhibitors, product highlights, and the breaking news on the event.

What can I expect by visiting the Automation Expo?
Visitors can expect to see the latest range of machinery for the market. You can interact with the exhibitors, witness how these equipments or technology works and be briefed on how these machinery or technology can assist you in your manufacturing line. Most exhibitors will also offer special exhibition-only prices on their equipment, thus you might be able to get some savings on your purchase orders done on site. You can also expect to find some possible business partnership with exhibitors that are looking for local representation.

I am a technical student. Am I allowed entry into the Automation Expo?
Technical students are definitely allowed into the Automation Expo. We believe that you are the future of the industry and can definitely benefit from getting the exposure to the latest technological advancement in the industry. Thus, invitations are usually sent to technical colleges and vocational schools for official school visits. However, if your school was accidentally omitted from this list, please provide us with the relevant contact so that we can send an official invitation.

Exhibiting in the Event

How can my company exhibit in the Automation Expo?

What is the cost of participation at the Automation Expo?
Standard 3m x 3m booth for the Automation Expo cost RM 5,500 each or US$ 2,000 (for non-Malaysian companies). Companies can also choose our raw space (to custom build booth later) participation at RM 580 (or USD210) per square meter (minimum 18 sqm and with an increment of 9 sqm)

What can I expect to gain by participating at the Automation Expo?
We understand that meeting the key person or buyers within an organization can be very time-consuming, costly and with bulky machinery, bringing your machine to their location might be impossible. However, by participating at the Automation Expo, these key personnel come to meet you, so that you can conduct face-to-face marketing (or selling), obtain database or just to network with them. You will also have the opportunity to show them how your machinery or technology works and how it can benefit them. All these can be done at a very much lower cost compared to door-to-door visits.

Do you Official Directory for Automation Expo?
Yes, we publish an A5-sized Official Directory for the show. This directory is given FREE to all pre-registered visitors and sold at RM 5.00 per directory to on-site registered visitor.

Is there advertisement space in the Official Directory?
Yes, exhibitors can take up advertisement space in the Official Directory. ½ page advertisement in black and white cost only RM 800 while the coveted back page cost only RM 3,000.

Is there other advertising avenue during the show?
There are various advertising opportunities during the show. We do sell banner space around the exhibition hall (banner of 20’ x 4’) and also hanging banner from the rafters (banner of 20’ x 60’). Exhibitors can also capture visitors’ interest by advertising on standing streamers (6’ x 2’) at the registration area and the walkway to the exhibition hall.

What about online advertising avenue?
With the www.automationexpo.com.my getting frequent hits from buyers in the region, we have allowed exhibitors to do pre-show advertisement on our webpage. Please contact Mr Kevin Loh at 604 6467 866 for more details.

Are there any pre-show promotional activities that exhibitors can participate in?
We will send out at least four e-pre-show previews to our database of over 20,000. There will be limited advertisement space in each of these e-pre-show previews that exhibitors can ride on. We can also do customized on-request e-mailers for individual exhibitors at minimal fee.

Are there other sponsorship opportunities at the Automation Expo?
Customized on-site sponsorship opportunities such as Registration Area, Lanyard, Paper Bags, Hospitality Room or VIP Room are available to companies that are interested to gain additional exposure through this event. Please contact Mr Kevin Loh at 604 6467866 or email at whloh@intrenasionale.com

Is there any government support to the Automation Expo?
Understanding the importance of the Automation Expo to the regional economy, the Penang State Government accepted our invitation to co-organize this show. The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers – Automation Technology Industries Group (FMM-ATIG) is also in support of this event.

What is the Official Hotel of Automation Expo?
The Krystal Suites is our Preferred Official Hotel for the Automation Expo. However, due to the high number of exhibitors and visitors during the event, we have also appointed Hotel Vistana as Official Hotels to accommodate the demand.

International Visitors

Do I need VISA to enter Malaysia?
Visitors from certain countries do not require VISA for entry into Malaysia. However, for an updated list please visit http://www.kln.gov.my/files/Visa_Requirement_for_Malaysian.pdf.

What is there for me to do in Penang?
Penang is known as the Pearl of the Orient, famous for its beaches, heritage sites and food. For more information about Penang, please visit the TourismPenang website at www.tourismpenang.gov.my

What are the languages used in Penang?
Most people in Penang are fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese (Hokkien, Mandarin and Cantonese dialect)

What is the weather like in Penang?
Penang enjoys tropical climate with warm and balmy weather all year round. Temperatures range from 21C to 32C. Annual rainfall varies from 2000mm to 2500 mm. Humidity level is at an average of 80% throughout the year.
